I got my rangy orange boy during Covid. He was one of many shipped to fill demand in the Northeast where neutering is common, from the South where (not coincidentally, along with euthanasia) it is not.
He’s a country cat who revels in a wild outdoor life as well as a warm lap.
The calico is very much the cool city feline. Serenely unperturbed, she commands her own table at busy Paris cafe, where patrons don't share most Americans’ concern for “sanitation.”
Most gingers are male, and almost all calicos are female. All cats are only semi-domesticated—as much as we imagine they are wholly our pets.
