When you travel independently and don’t speak the language, much stays unexplained. I assume the top photo, taken in Laos on the Mekong River, is some sort of fishing operation, but whether the geometric constructions are platforms or a traps or something else entirely, I’ll probably never know. Still, the quiet beauty is clear.
The bottom shot is on the eastern, working end of the French Riviera, an area lacking posh people and fancy villas, but rich in friendly workers and working ports. This, fluffy shore lies gaudy in front of a small restaurant that specializes in its own farmed oysters and mussels.
The contrast is stunning!
