Astouding photos, Terry, and I love the bit of local labor history in your comments. I once saw a beautiful little movie of the Hope Cemetery in Barre and the granite workers, shown at the Aldrich Library years ago.

I love the play of dimensions in the quarry shot, but the museum/sculpture/construction image is one for the ages, really. All major construction sites should have a tired giant leaning against a building. Probably the quarry should have one too.

Just give me the piece before publication and I will try to find something suitable. It's a fun puzzle for me.

I'm usually doing a lot of the writing at the last minute, so I'm generally unable to do that, sorry to say. But I'm working right now on a rewrite of a three-part series on road ecology, so if you have intriguing animal-on-road/roadkill images let me know. But please keep in mind that I have all the images already from the first version three years ago, and that I'm quite particular about whether an image feels right. My apologies if this sounds like I'm looking a gift horse in the mouth... but you know what it means to look for just the right thing. Thanks again, Terry, and I look forward to collaborating somehow.

No road kill but a shot of a live young coyote on the road. Also an owl that was hit by a car and has one obviously blind eye. Send an email to tallen@igc.org and I'll send it. You use excellent photos so this may not work

That sculpture "leaning" on the building is a fantastic shot!

I like Burtynsky’s work but I don’t agree it’s better.

These pictures should convince any skeptics who doubt that photography can be true art.

I grew up in Barre, daughter of a Scottish mom and a travelling Yankee dad who sold equipment to the sheds. The Scots were businessmen who ran the business, for better or worse! It was a real melting pot, and we kids loved it! I guess there was some discrimination, but I don't remember much! Mrs.Zanleoni made the best meat ravioli, and Johnson's bakery made fhe best bismarks!
