This summer, a knife-wielding assassin attacked and grievously wounded author Salman Rushdie. He had spent years of hiding after religious fanatic Ayatollah Khomeini issued a fatwa against him. Here, the danger seemingly over, Rushdie conducted a public reading. And then, a few years later, the crazed attack.
The man on the right is not Rushdie’s attacker, but an angry, machete-wielding man in Vermont, who drew the weapon after being informed that the street he wanted to drive through was briefly closed to accommodate a demonstration for migrant rights. He was allowed through without violence.
(I’ll try for a happier post tomorrow.)
Were you there to see how this man interacted with the police? He started out with a machete and was somehow allowed to pass thru without violence. Someone must have helped with this outcome. The demonstrators , the police?
I can't even think of a comment that expresses how this makes me feel!
