Landscapes: pastel with pools

Yet to be gentrified, this part of Brooklyn is holding tight to manufacturing, warehouses, scrap metal yards, chop shops, and polluted canals slicked with oil and chemicals, radiating toxic beauty.

Below is a small granite quarry in Vermont. The seemingly unnatural milky green of the water results from rock precipitate, a byproduct of mining. On this day, a summer storm had streaked the carved quarry walls and pooled below.
