After weeks of weirdly warm, bare-ground winter, with mud-ruts carving the dirt roads, we finally got a freeze. Out walking, I spotted the ice below a tree and remembered this painting in Bruges.

Sometimes when I come across what seems like impossible patterns in nature I am reminded that the handiwork of God is magnificent. Even a single snow flake is remarkable.
