Top/left: A group of Vermonters gathered in Montpelier on November 29 to hold a candlelight vigil for the three Palestinian students shot in Burlington. Ghazi Jendoubi, a Tunisian asylum seeker, wears a Palestinian-style kaffiyeh, in solidarity with the victims. "It could happen to me," he said. "It could happen to anyone."
Middle: For the crime of taking a walk, and very likely for wearing a kaffiyeh, three Palestinian-Americans were shot on a quiet residential street in Burlington. Hisham Awaratani issued this statement from the hospital where he lies with a bullet lodged in his spine. The 20-year-old Brown University student may not walk again.
His attacker, a 48-year-old white man described himself on X (as reported by Vice) as a “radical citizen” who patrols “demockracy and crapitalism for oathcreepers.”
Bottom/right: Enraged beyond reason, a machete-wielding man jumped from his truck to threaten demonstrators in Burlington, 2020, because they were blocking a street he wanted to drive down. Led by Migrant Justice, the protesters, who had gathered to support farm workers, talked the man down and opened the street to let him through.
Conservatives are just vile. Profoundly ignorant. I am beyond sick of their noisome, belligerent inhumanity.
Good work tomodachi, so much rage in this world we live in.
