Time, weather, and use have eroded this wooden barn door to reveal its past, laid out in layers of color down to bare wood.
Millennia of heat, pressure, and the ragged glide of glaciers have formed the foliated metamorphic rock destined to be slate. Then, a geological second of mining stripped down the vertical surface to expose its patterned layers.
This is a great pairing. It made me think about how relative time is, really. And patterns. Plus each photo is beautiful.
Fascinating!
