This dog on the Upper West Side could walk and play, its owner told me, but preferred being chauffeured in its specialized pet carriage. So cute.
Then to the subway where, it being St. Patrick’s Day, post-parade viewers (unmasked) jammed the A-train platform, while this mother and daughter plied the crowds selling candy. Few, including me, bought anything. Less cute.
Bonus pic: Back in my hood at the corner Latino-run diner: The corned beef and cabbage special.
Living in Latin America, selling food at bus stops, walking around the streets, etc. was a common practice. And almost always by women, carrying their goods on their heads and accompanied by at least one child. I found the juxtaposition hard, because I am too judgmental: treating dogs like children doesn't work for me.
