Miss the dinners, cheap and fairly good food, they are almost completely gone in NYC.

Two remain in my old hood. The Waverly and the Washington Sq on the corner of W4th and 6th Ave. But yes, a dying breed.

I dont think so. I think the top one is maybe the Empire Diner. I remember taking the shot in Chelsea--maybe 8th or 9th ave when i was out perusing galleries in the area. The bottom one is in Barre, Vermont, and has closed down.

We live in New Jersey which is is reputed to be the diner capital of the country. We love going to a few favorites when we want an economical and delicious meal.

Lucky you. We dont have many here in VT. Did u see that Wilson Hughes, who used to life across the street, mentioned Almacs in FR. I had completely forgotten. Chorizo and eggs afloat in orange grease.

These photos remind me of quick breakfasts at the old Almacs in Fall River. Good diners are now few and far between.
