I love all these and it strikes me that nobody reads in public anymore. Phones have taken over

That is so true. I always carried a book for those times in between and now, at most and rarely, a magazine. But always, always, the phone. I am alert and curious when i see someone on the nyc subway with a book. And let's no mention the state of my attention span.
