I appreciate the irony in these photos! To inhale smoke voluntarily while others choke on wildfire smoke. Humans are interesting. 🤔

The orange color results from the micron and sub-micon sized aerosol particles scattering the shorter light wavelengths (blue end of the spectrum). This allows mainly the red-orange light to come through.

Wish we'd had those masks when I was a kid! My dad was a dear, but he smoked cigars,and I got car sick as a kid from the smell! Glad his cigars weren't as big as the ones in your picture!
