Loved smoking, after 20 years of nonsmoking, still miss it. My father also smoked cigars, horrible smell. Never could understand the joy of smoking them? CL

Smoking pot helped me rid myself of the tobacco habit. My mother smoked all her life which lasted pretty long considering that she died of lung cancer. In my visits to Nepal I have seen a big decrease in smoking partly due to a government campaign that funded some really clever TV ads.

What an amazing world-wide phenomenon--that lasted centuries addicting and killing millions (100m in the 20thC alone). And really dented down in a few decades, e.g. from 21% in 2005 to 11% in 2021. And now only 5.3% of 18-24 y/o. Some good stats here: https://www.cdc.gov/tobacco/data_statistics/fact_sheets/adult_data/cig_smoking/index.htm

Love your pictures from China. Wish the shots I took overseas had been of people. I worried about confrontation! My water buffaloes, oh so many water buffaloes, have not stood the test of time.

My dad was a cigar smoker. Boy did our car stink! I remember we had a little white something on the wall (supposed to help with the smell), but I don't think it helped much! He was the kindest, most loving person, except for that!

Same for mine ... who died of lung cancer 10 years after he quit.
