I love a nicely set table, especially a beautiful centerpiece.😻
I so agree with your commentary on these violent sports. I cringe when I hear cheering when some guy gets smashed, or listen to a commentator who used to be a football player - have you ever listened to them? Good Grief! It’s amazing they actually remember their words let alone pronounce them!
Thank you for this. In this country where football and gun use and insurrection seem to be getting even more violent I wonder if it's the dying gasp of virulent masculinity or fear of female strength
It may be the gasp of virulent masculinity, but I fear, not the dying kind. Some wag said what women fear most is that a man will kill or rape them; what men fear most is that a woman will laugh at them.
Both the NYT piece and yours brought tears to my eyes. I know a family in Missoula whose kid plays football and now I’m grappling with whether or not to send it to them….
Looks like a more elegant Thanksgiving than ours. We hauled leaves, went for a hike and had veggie lasagna ( it had stuff from our garden though do kinda authentic).

Your comparison to eunuchs is eye opening.

The cat is avidly awaiting the "mousekey"!

Happy Birthday Terry!
