It was hard enough reading this, as it was when we got snippets of info, not very accurate, at the time. I get so angry with people who negate PTSD, look down on soldiers and others who have experienced, seen, participated in these unimaginable wars. “You’re home now, move on, get over it”, etc. I’m not sure I could ever get those sights out of my mind.
Oh my God, Terry. Thank you for writing this and for reprinting it. I was stationed in the Pentagon in '94 and remember hearing that the plane carrying the Rwandan and Burundian presidents was shot down. Then just talk of the brutal "tribal" war that ensued. Oh my God.
Thanks for the reminder. Dallaire's pain has been small of course compared to that of the Rwandan people. A tragedy in its own right though, I've heard him interviewed several times.
Powerful article, painful as well. How do people ever recover from such horrors? Thank you for printing that and writing it. It makes me wonder if I could jump into a ditch filled with AIDS or Ebola-infected people. Thanks for making me wonder if I could.
Thank you for this powerful piece.
Thanks for sharing .. from the editor's desk no less! So many times when the truth has been hidden behind the diplomatic expressions...priceless

I’m glad Romeo turned a corner and is “back”.
And so it continues!
Thanks for posting this, Terry.
