These photos reminded me of a guy I saw in Kathmandu years ago playing a tune on a leaf. I wasn't a photographer and it was before the phones we have today. It was beautiful music.

Wow. The last picture really caught my eye. I noticed in the photograph one of the children is wearing a USAF t-shirt that seems to advertise Fairchild AFB? Some of the personnel and B52s used in the Arc Light strikes over Laos in the late 60s originated there.

Yeah, that was really [lost for words]. the USAF dropped more munitions of Laos than all the US dropped on germany during ww2, most cluster bombs, that are still killing and maiming kids.

Fascinating in the first photo that six of the nine people are looking at you with various expressions on their faces. I'm sure this was not unusual for the time and location. Your work continues to both entertain and educate. Thank you!

This was shortly after Mao died, and my friend and I traveled on a black market visa into places where we were likely the first Caucasians many people had seen. China had been really cut off, the Cultural Revolution had devastated the country, and limited legal tourism was confined to group tours to see happy peasants.
