I think our species must store some kind of ancient tunnel-memory. Why else would tunnels be so evocative for so many of us, no matter whether the light either coming or going?
The bottom picture does call to me. That arch of trees probably offers shady respite in July. But in the dark that carpet of fallen leaves and the teethy tree trunks sends pleasant "I-dare-ya" shivers through me.
