Today's fruit is heavily regulated in China and even watermelon brought in from the south is available in Jan. in supermarkets of which there are many in cities. The Ice Festival is on now and there are plenty of outside vendors supplying treats for visitors and food stalls because of the Chinese love of eating whenever out, but it seems from my visits that fewer outside vendors appear today.
