I like looking at tattoos, both for the art and for what they reveal—in a deeply private and at the same time, nakedly public way—about what the wearer most values.
The first photo is an excellent example of why one shouldn't try to replicate faces in tattoos. Her child won't thank her for that caricature-ish image!
Have you ever seen an old Navy guy who got his tats when in his twenties? Now his tats are droopy and unreadable on his saggy wrinkled skin. Pretty funny in a sad sort of way. When I look at all the tattoos on young folk now I think of that old guy!
Sometimes I ask people about their tattoos,. How did you choose those words or images. What do they mean to you.? What I also wonder, but for some reason hesitate to ask is why someone feels the need to display private images on their body. On the other hand tribal tattoos make sense.to me because because they identify the wearer as part of a group.

but isnt the dog below really good?
Sigh. I suppose so, but I'd rather see it on paper than on skin.
Ink does not age well on skin.
so it seems.

the young never imagine the fate awaiting their necks

I was wondering, while composing this post, just why I rarely ask people to "explain" their choice of tattoo. Maybe i'll do it more in future.
At my age, I think about tattoos and wonder how they would look on my wrinkely, saggy now! Scary!
young people never imagine the fate of their necks.
There is a sweetness in both photos.
i love that you see that
The first photo is amazing!!
Thanks. It is a great example of a lucky shot--and having the camera at hand to catch it.
